Written to be read, not to protect us. If anything here is unclear, ask and we'll explain it properly.
Kindred Paws is operated by Donal O'HAonghuse, trading as a sole trader in Ireland, at Mosstown, Co. Meath.
We are the data controller for the information described here. For anything to do with your data, write to silvercamlin@gmail.com.
Payment is processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number — Stripe passes back only a confirmation that payment succeeded, a reference for the transaction, and the email address you entered at checkout.
Whatever you choose to put on it: your pet's name and details, photographs, the story you write, and the family name if you add one. Most of this is about your pet rather than a person — but anything you write may of course mention people, and it's treated with the same care either way.
Nothing at all. The booklet is generated when you buy it and sent straight to you. We keep no copy of anything you write in it, because you write in it after it reaches you.
Lighting a candle records a number and nothing else — no name, no message, no identifier, nothing that could be traced back to you.
If you leave a guestbook message, we store the name and message you enter. These are shown publicly on that page only once the page's owner has approved them.
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | Sending you a sign-in link so you can get back to your own page | Necessary to provide what you paid for (contract) |
| Payment reference | Confirming you paid, and linking your page to your purchase | Contract, and our legal obligation to keep records |
| Your page's content | It is the thing you bought | Contract |
| Guestbook messages | Showing them on the page they were written for | Consent — you chose to write and submit it |
Three companies process data on our behalf. We use them because running payments, hosting, and email badly would be worse for you than using people who do it properly.
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Taking payment. They handle card details; we never see them. |
| Netlify | Hosting the site and storing page content. |
| Resend | Sending sign-in link emails. |
Some of these process data outside the European Economic Area — mainly in the United States. Where they do, that transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Resend, who send our emails, are also certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, a second legal basis for the same kind of transfer.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising. Nobody pays us for access to it, and we would not be interested if they offered.
We store two things in your browser, and neither is used to track you:
Both are strictly necessary for the site to work as intended, which is why you aren't being asked to agree to a cookie banner. We set no advertising or analytics cookies, because we run neither.
This policy is supported by an internal archive process, not a third-party escrow — we're continuing to strengthen the operational commitments (funded renewal, a named person responsible for it, and periodic tests that it still works) behind it.
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
Email silvercamlin@gmail.com. We'll reply within thirty days, usually much sooner, and we won't ask you to justify the request.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled something, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie. We'd rather you told us first so we can put it right, but it's your call.
Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Access to your page uses single-use links that expire after thirty minutes rather than passwords, so there's no password of yours for anyone to steal or reuse.
Nothing online is perfectly secure and we won't claim otherwise. If something ever goes wrong in a way that puts your information at risk, we'll tell you and the Data Protection Commission within seventy-two hours.
This service is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen.
If we change anything meaningful here, we'll update the date below. We won't quietly start doing something with your data that this page says we don't do.
